Wildlife presenter Terry Nutkins passes away

Terry Nutkins, a broadcaster and wildlife presenter best known for hosting BBC series Animal Magic and The Really Wild Show, has died at the age of 66.

Terry Nutkins, a broadcaster and wildlife presenter best known for hosting BBC series Animal Magic and The Really Wild Show, has died at the age of 66.

Nutkins’ agent, John Miles, said the presenter died at home in Scotland on Thursday (September 6), adding: “He had fought for about nine months or so with acute leukemia.”

Nutkins first shot to prominence as a co-presenter on kids wildlife show Animal Magic, which ran on UK pubcaster BBC1 from 1962 to 1983. Afterwards, he became one of the founding co-presenters of The Really Wild Show alongside Springwatch presenter Chris Packham.

He stayed with the show from 1986 until 1993. His final TV work came in 2009 on BBC3 show My Life as an Animal.

Nutkins is survived by his wife Jackie, his eight children, and eight grandchildren.
