BECTU Website Courses for 2010.
These courses are held at BECTU Head Office and start at 10am. The tutor will be Paul Evans.
1 April
10 June
2 September
28 October
The course will last one day and will be divided into three parts, first a workshop on the branch web pages, how the work and why they are important; second, a practical session where you will be supported to create your branch webpage, upload content and add resources; third, a session on accessing and using the membership database. You will have sole use of a networked laptop during the day.
In the workshop you will learn:
1: How to log on and gain access to the branch webpages
2: How the content management system (CMS) works
3: How to add content; text, images, news reports, documents and links
4: You will also be encouraged to see the webpage as a strategic organising resource for your branch and how to use it to increase your influence as a branch
5: How to access your members details on the database and use it to communicate and organise
6: You will also receive guidance on ethical and legal aspects of public webpages
In the practical session, you will be able to apply the knowledge gained at the workshop to create a new branch webpage. To help you do this we recommend that you bring along your own digital resources such as images (photos of committee members, your workplace etc.) and documents (such as agreements, procedures, guidance etc.), so you can upload them on the day.
It is also essential that you have logged into the BECTU website before attending the course to ensure your log in details are working. If there is a problem you should contact the membership department.
