So here's something to kick this section off.

We get loads of enquiries about how to get started in wildlife film making. One of the biggest pieces of advice everyone gives is to get out and film stuff. This doesn't always mean using high end cameras to get broadcast quality results of unique behavior. Just the process of setting up and shooting with whatever medium is avgreat way to develop field craft and skills.

One good example is playing around with trail cams and remote cameras. And you don't need to spend big bucks to get started.

The picture here was taken in the back yard while testing a wifi baby monitor / security camera. It has built in motion sensor and takes snaps or video and saves them to you ftp server or emails them. You can even watch the feed over the internet fom anywhere. While the image quality is poor and video low res, the process of choosing a filming set up, camera placement, framing, predicting the animal behavior and patently waiting for something to happen, are fundamental skills for a wildlife film maker. These skills can then easily be transferred to higher end or custom cameras and who knows, maybe you'll be the one to capture something truly unique.

So please use this topic to showcase your remote captures and let's see what's out there.

Now here's the cheeky buggers that keep messing up my pond !

ok so you'll have to wait for the picture to upload.
