Can anyone recommend any particular LED lights for use in the field (ie powering off batteries). I've had a recommendation for the Datavision LED600 which looks good value but I know sometimes cheaper LED lights can have slightly odd colour spectrums and in my experience can also be difficult to colour convert satisfactorily using standard lighting gels. I know there are some available that have built-in tungsten-daylight switchability which would be handy.

I've used litepanel minipluses quite a bit but was looking for something with a bit more punch. It would also be good to know about any that can be spotted for lighting sets if necessary. I've heard dedo are close to releasing some new LED kits. I know about the arri L7 too though I think its only mains powered as standard and in any case I was looking for something a bit smaller.

Hi Sticky

I have the LED600, in fact I have two and I've been really impressed. It has loads more bang for it's buck than the litepanel 1x1. it comes with barn doors and gels and will go a good while on a decent v-lock. The only thing you need to watch is the battery connection, one of mine is starting to act up a little - but I'm sure its easy fixed.

I would steer clear of the bi colour leds, I've had some flicker issues and they are a lot less powerful. best to go for daylight and gel it if needs be. IMHO
