Apply For Membership

The International Association of Wildlife Film Makers is an association in its own right affiliated to the Guild of Television Cameraman. IAWF Members have all the benefits of being a GTC member, plus the more specialised benefits of being an IAWF member.

As membership is administered by GTC, IAWF membership categories necessarily fall into line with those of the GTC. Administration takes place from the UK, and for membership purposes anywhere outside the UK is considered 'international'.

Types of membership available:

There are three types of membership of the IAWF, International Membership, Full Membership and Associate Membership

Membership Payments

The GTC administrates membership payments on behalf of the IAWF.

Associate Membership

Associate members are encouraged to upgrade their membership to full membership as soon as they feel they met the criteria of full membership. The committee also reserves the right to invite an associate member to upgrade their membership if they appear to meet the criteria.

Affiliate Membership

We used to offer an 'IAWF affiliate membership' category for those who were not working as camera people, but offered back up services related to wildlife filming. The GTC still offers the 'affiliate' category of membership, and we encourage you to explore that avenue of membership. The GTC also offers membership for students, retired people, and academic organisations which you can read more about here.

Voting Rights

Full members and International members have voting rights on major IAWF issues and members of BECTU may vote on issues relating to the IAWF/BECTU agreements. We encourage all UK members to join BECTU, however this is not mandatory. BECTU supports, advises and negotiates with the IAWF on a range of issues, including pay rates and working conditions.

If you are interested in applying to be a member of The International Association of Wildlife Film-makers, it would help us to have a few details from you.

Complete the following form which submits basic information to our Secretary and please include information about your wildlife filmmaking experience.

The committee will assess your application and you'll then be contacted with details of the membership options available to you and how to pay.

Please include all credits and links to demo footage.

Applications are reviewed periodically every few months due to committee work commitments.
